Has a loose bottom hand and can work in a wide arc around his body. Fluid use of between the legs - forward, backward, fake and back through, etc. Creates space at the top of the zone and through the neutral zone with ease. He had a goal called back that would’ve been one of the highlights of the tournament. Pulled it between his legs, circled the net while scooping it up, and finished a Michigan about as casually as you can. Perfect example of his high-end skill, confidence, and execution. He was consistently manipulating defenders, making plays through seams with a degree or two of difficulty added in, including a clean backhand sauce onto the tape of his streaking mate. Drew a couple of penalties, was deft at entering the zone, and added intelligent secondary transitional offence with a cross-ice, snappy passes. There’s an obvious risk in his game. He’s too casual positionally off puck. Tries to handle his way out of nearly every situation. But he also showed more engagement physically than usual. Initiating contact, battling after whistles. High skill. High involvement. Driving offence. Strong showing to start this event off.”
