The Montreal Canadiens, short on size and muscle up front, claimed tough right-winger Aaron Downey off waivers from the St. Louis Blues on Monday.
Downey, 31, had two goals and 45 penalty minutes in 17 games for the Blues this season. The Shelbourne, Ont., native previously played in Dallas, Chicago and Boston. He is earning $450,000 US this season.
