He is blessed with incredible hands and an uncanny hockey sense. He can control the puck as if it were magnetically drawn to his stick. His passing skills are amazing, clear and crisp tape to tape passes that rarely seem to roll on edge. He is not afraid to take the body, and yet is considered one of the most sportsmanlike players in the game today. He however does have his limitations. Boyes will never dominate a game physically like some power forwards have come to do in the NHL. He will also never have the type of flashy breakaway speed we have seen in some European prospects. He does however have the ability to read the play, find the open man without looking, set up "gimme" goals for his linemates, and dominate the game mentally. He has started to dominate the faceoff circle, and has improved slightly on his skating. His enthusiasm, attitude and drive are never in question"
